Avoid Information Overload
Information here, information there, information everywhere.
You have to get a handle on it right from the start.
If not you'll find yourself starting off very enthusiastic. Just devouring everything you can get your hands on. Then you'll realize you aren't really achieving anything except reading and gathering.
Before you know it you'll be discouraged, and possibly ready to give up. You'll be suffering from information overload.
A good way to keep things under control is to have a plan, and to actually read information at the right stages.
You can accumulate the information as you find it, but put it aside to go over at the right time. Make a note to yourself as to why you are saving the info and when you want to go over it. This is something you can keep in a section of your resource library.
You'll be developing your home business in stages. You should read related information when you're working on that particular stage. For instance, if you are working on your site don't spend time learning how to write an e-book. Save it for when you're ready to start thinking about your own products.
You should allocate a set time limit for reading the information daily. Set the limit and stick to it.
You'll want to take advantage of free courses. Make sure you do only one at a time. Complete one, learn from it, implement what you have learned and then move on to the next. Set a time limit for "attending" your courses daily and stick to it. Again, take courses that relate to the stage of development that you're in.
You'll be subscribing to publications. Limit the number of publications you subscribe to at any given time. If not you'll find your inbox flooded daily and at a loss as to where to start. Set a time limit for reading these and stick to it.
All the "experts" have advise and guidelines to offer. You won't be able to follow them all. You'll find that some actually outright contradict each other. Invest a little time up front studying their style and approach.
If you're comfortable with the way they do business, and like the advise they are offering, then continue to follow them. If not, scratch them off your list or make a note to go back at a later date. Start with only two or three for each aspect of your work from home business.
You should be learning from them, but your work from home business should have a style of it's own.
Once you are up and running, you can expand the time you allocate to reading, learning and information gathering.
To get started though, it's important that you approach information in an organized fashion. Do it in stages by topic, set time limits and schedule the time. Give yourself the opportunity to learn and to put what you learn into action.
