Product Review Website Tonight
By Shelley Lockwood
I've been registering my domains with
GoDaddy
and hosting this site with them for over 7 years and have been more than satisfied with their uptime. I appreciate that their support is available by phone, but unfortunately they don't have an 800 number so it costs long distance.
My number one recommendation for an all-in-one site builder is still SBI. The price is waaaaayyyy low compared to the value, but not everyone can afford the up-front cost. This is not an apples to apples comparison. To date I still haven't been able to find an all-in-one that includes as much as SBI.
For people who aren't sure if the web is for them, or are on a very limited budget I've been trying to find something that requires less of an initial investment but includes enough tools to really get started.
Unlike SBI I wouldn't go so far as to call it an all-in-one but instead enough-of-what-you-need-to-get-started-online site builder that can be upgraded as your site grows.
It doesn't include the domain name, brain storming & keyword research tools that SBI has. I wouldn't recommend Website Tonight for a high content site (especially if you're generating your income from content) but website is easy to use and is enough to get started with a 5 to10 page website.
I especially like the templates, the extensive variety of pictures available and the ease of changing website templates or page layouts at any time.
Pros:
Very easy to use online website builder
No need for ftp - you can even upload your pictures directly from the builder
Includes Hosting
Includes e-mail
Doesn't include a domain name, but you do get offered a discount if you purchase two months or more of website tonight
(currently $1.99 for the domain name if purchased at the same time - this offer can end at any time)
Easy to add meta tags, links, anchors etc
Cons (compared to SBI)
No automatic search submission
No e-mail list manager
No keyword brainstorm or research tools
The builder slows slightly at peak use times
If you're looking to test the waters, and see if having a website is a good idea for you
www.GoDaddy.com's
Website Tonight is priced right and easy to use. I would recommend Godaddy's Website tonight for mini sites of 5 to 10 pages but suggest SBI for anything bigger and/or content based, especially if you want to make money from the content.
