MLM Checklist
What product is being sold? Is it clear what the product is?
Do you see a potential market outside of plan members?
Would you buy the product as a consumer?
Is the emphasis on product sales or recruiting?
Do you get paid a fee or commission for recruiting? *
Do you have to pay or purchase something to join?
Do you have to reach a monthly sales total to get paid commissions?
If yes, does the commission carry forward into the next pay period?

* If you are paid a commission or fee for recruiting someone, you probably shouldn't join. This is usually considered pyramiding. You should earn commissions for sales made by people you recruit, not for the act of recruiting itself.
If there is no actual product for sale with a potential consumer base (people outside of the plan), then it is probably a pyramid.
It's not unusual to have earn a minimum amount to receive payment. However, the commissions should be carried forward into following period(s) until the minimum is met. You should not lose out on commissions earned because you did not meet the minimum for that period.
